Block Ejectors
The Block Ejector is Mikra’s space-efficient solution for ejecting frozen blocks from pans in fish processing facilities, available in several configurations to suit different production requirements. Designed with space optimisation in mind, each version delivers a significant advantage over traditional ejector machines, with boxes exiting the machine at the same height as the packing table, eliminating the need for up to two additional conveyors and the floor space they would otherwise require.
Efficient and reliable block ejection is a critical step in frozen fish processing, where consistent handling, gentle treatment of pans, and smooth integration with downstream packing operations are essential to maintaining production flow and minimising downtime. The Block Ejector addresses all of these requirements directly, combining a compact footprint with high throughput, gentle pan handling, and a straightforward changeover process that keeps production moving efficiently between different pan sizes.
Available as a single machine for one pan length or a double machine that handles two different pan lengths and serves the purpose of two separate machines, the Block Ejector range offers a flexible and space-saving solution for facilities of all sizes and configurations.
What the Block Ejectors are used for
The Block Ejectors are used for the efficient ejection of frozen blocks from pans in fish processing facilities, where consistent throughput, gentle pan handling, and seamless integration with packing operations are critical to maintaining production quality and efficiency. Boxes exit the machine at the same height as the packing table, allowing direct transfer without the need for additional conveyors, saving both floor space and capital investment compared to conventional ejector solutions.
The machines lift boxes out of the pan using 10 to 16 rollers, making them suitable for use with 12-pound packaging as well as standard block sizes. Empty pans are returned from the rear of the machine via a dedicated conveyor that transports them back for reuse. Changeover between pan sizes on the double machine takes only a few seconds, minimising downtime between production runs. An optional pan washing machine is also available to clean pans after ejection.

Proven in the field
The Block Ejector has been developed and refined across several configurations to meet the practical demands of frozen fish processing facilities, where space efficiency, gentle pan handling, and reliable throughput are equally critical to smooth daily operations. The machines have proven to handle pans with exceptional care, reducing wear and extending pan lifespan, making them a dependable and cost-effective long-term investment for processors looking to optimise their block ejection operations.
Customer experience
Processing facilities using the Block Ejector have highlighted the significant space savings it delivers compared to traditional ejector solutions, particularly the elimination of up to two conveyors thanks to the boxes exiting at packing table height. The fast changeover between pan sizes on the double machine and the gentle handling of pans throughout the ejection process have also been valued for the reduction in downtime and pan wear they deliver across long production runs.
