Vertical Conveyor

The Vertical Conveyor is one of Mikra’s original innovations for the seafood sector, developed to solve one of the most common space challenges in fish processing, transporting product vertically in a minimal footprint. Fabricated from AISI 304 stainless steel with a durable mesh belt and thick, finely ribbed rubber cleats, it delivers gentle and reliable product handling across a wide range of fish species, in a unit that occupies a mere 0.5 square meters of floor space.

Efficient vertical transport of raw material is a critical requirement in fish processing operations, where production decks and vessel layouts leave little room for large or bulky equipment. The Vertical Conveyor addresses this directly by combining a compact footprint with high throughput capacity of up to 10 to 12 tonnes per hour, making it an indispensable solution for processors looking to move product between levels without sacrificing valuable production floor space.

Although available in standardised models, the Vertical Conveyor can be tailored to various widths and heights to suit the specific requirements of each installation, ensuring the right configuration is in place for every facility and production environment.

What the Vertical Conveyor is used for

The Vertical Conveyor is used for the efficient vertical transport of fish in seafood processing operations, where gentle product handling, high throughput, and a minimal footprint are equally critical to maintaining production quality and flow. It is suitable for a wide range of species including herring, cod, redfish, and halibut, and can be used in both onboard and land-based processing environments.

The conveyor inlet can be positioned as low as 200 mm from the ground, allowing flexible integration into a wide range of production line layouts. An optional washing bin can be incorporated into the design, adding a cleaning function to the vertical transport process. The thick, finely ribbed rubber cleats ensure gentle handling of the product throughout, protecting raw material quality at every stage of the lift.
